I can’t explain it but over the last month or so I have had this urgency for family. Family in general but specifically my immediate family. Hubby and I have talked and starting this week we are incorporating more family time into our schedules. Some of the things are as follows:
Ø Breakfast together as a family on Wednesdays
Ø Game/Family night 1 day a week – where we do not turn the TV on at all. We will have supper, clean up and then play games together or do activities together as a family.
Ø We also want to incorporate family devotions into our schedules. We haven’t came up with anything yet but on top of our own studying, we feel it is important to instill as much of the Word in our children as possible without overwhelming them. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Poverbs 22:6 Obviously Jocelyn is a little young but if we start now, she will be a custom to it. She already knows we pray before we eat and holds her hands out and closes her eyes. She knows at church when we pray she is supposed to bow her head and close her eyes and she does her best. It is cute but so important!
Ø And a big one….. START SAYING NO!!!!! We are so busy anymore and it takes so much time away from us as a family. I am tired of being too busy to be a family if that makes sense. Believe it or not, I think this is going to be a hard one. It is so easy to say yes to things but for some reason, I feel so guilty saying no. But I feel it is very important in order for us to be close as a family.
Like I said earlier, I am not sure of this urgency but it has been on me a lot and it is important for me to obey that voice. I am excited to see the changes in us and to see what the outcomes will be!
Do you have any ideas that would help achieve this or are there things you currently do on a daily/weekly basis to ensure family time and coming together? Any and all thoughts or questions are welcomed!
I am currently working on a post I hope to have up shortly. We had a really good message last night at church about our spiritual houses and what our foundation is, what is the furnishings that is occupying our rooms? Are we keeping it clean and clutter free? Anyway, I really enjoyed it and am studying some things out but will be posting my thoughts and findings on this matter.
